For enhanced safety, the front and middle seat shoulder belts of the Nissan Armada are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Lexus LX doesn’t offer height-adjustable middle seat belts.

The Armada has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The LX doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the Armada has a standard 780-amp battery. The LX’s 776-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Nissan Armada uses regular unleaded gasoline. The LX requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The Armada has 4.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the LX (26 vs. 21.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For superior ride and handling, the Nissan Armada has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Lexus LX has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The Armada has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Armada flat and controlled during cornering. The LX base model’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The rear suspension of the Armada uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the LX, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Armada’s wheelbase is 8.9 inches longer than on the LX (121.1 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For greater off-road capability the Armada S/SV has a greater minimum ground clearance than the LX (9.1 vs. 8.9 inches), allowing the Armada to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Armada SL/Platinum’s minimum ground clearance is .3 inch higher than on the LX (9.2 vs. 8.9 inches).

The Armada SL/Midnight/Platinum uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The LX doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Armada’s available rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The LX Ultra Luxury doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

The Armada’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the LX’s (8500 vs. 8000 pounds).

The Armada is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The LX doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
