To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Range Rover Velar has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Range Rover Velar’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover Velar and the A6 Allroad have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems and rearview cameras.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Land Rover vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. With 46 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Land Rover higher than Audi.

The Range Rover Velar HST P400’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 60 more horsepower (395 vs. 335) and 36 lbs.-ft. more torque (405 vs. 369) than the A6 Allroad’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid.

The Range Rover Velar has 2.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the A6 Allroad (21.7 vs. 19.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Range Rover Velar higher (7 out of 10) than the Audi A6 Allroad (5). This means the Range Rover Velar produces up to 8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the A6 Allroad every 15,000 miles.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Land Rover Range Rover Velar, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the A6 Allroad.

For better traction, the Range Rover Velar has larger standard tires than the A6 Allroad (255/50R20 vs. 245/45R20). The Range Rover Velar’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the A6 Allroad (265/45R21 vs. 245/45R20).

The Range Rover Velar’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the A6 Allroad’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Velar offers optional 22-inch wheels. The A6 Allroad’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Range Rover Velar offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the A6 Allroad; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Velar is 1.9 inches wider in the rear than the track on the A6 Allroad.

The Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic S handles at .84 G’s, while the A6 Allroad Prestige pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover Velar’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the A6 Allroad’s (39.2 feet vs. 40 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Velar has a 2.3 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the A6 Allroad Premium Plus (8.4 vs. 6.1 inches), allowing the Range Rover Velar to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover Velar w/Air Suspension’s minimum ground clearance is 2.6 inches higher than on the A6 Allroad Prestige (9.9 vs. 7.3 inches).

The Land Rover Range Rover Velar may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 50 to 350 pounds less than the Audi A6 Allroad.

The Range Rover Velar is 6 inches shorter than the A6 Allroad, making the Range Rover Velar easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Range Rover Velar has a larger cargo volume than the A6 Allroad with its rear seat up (30.9 vs. 30 cubic feet).

Standard Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) on the Range Rover Velar uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Range Rover Velar has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover Velar to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Velar has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the A6 Allroad only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The Range Rover Velar will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Range Rover Velar will retain 46.61% to 47.97% of its original price after five years, while the A6 Allroad only retains 42.05% to 42.6%.

The Land Rover Range Rover Velar outsold the Audi A6/S6/RS 6 by 73% during the 2022 model year.
