The Range Rover Sport’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The RS Q8 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover Sport and the RS Q8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Land Rover vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. With 46 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Land Rover higher than Audi.

On the EPA test cycle the Range Rover Sport running its gasoline engine gets better mileage than the RS Q8:

The Range Rover Sport P440e can travel with zero emissions for 48 miles. The RS Q8 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

The Range Rover Sport’s standard fuel tank has 1.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the RS Q8 (23.8 vs. 22.5 gallons).

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Range Rover Sport higher (5 to 7 out of 10) than the Audi RS Q8 (3). This means the Range Rover Sport produces up to 24.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the RS Q8 every 15,000 miles.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the RS Q8; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover Sport w/Rear Wheel Steering’s turning circle is 7.6 feet tighter than the RS Q8’s (35.9 feet vs. 43.5 feet). The Range Rover Sport’s turning circle is 2.4 feet tighter than the RS Q8’s (41.1 feet vs. 43.5 feet).

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 500 pounds less than the Audi RS Q8.

The design of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport amounts to more than styling. The Range Rover Sport has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .29 Cd. That is significantly lower than the RS Q8 (.36) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Range Rover Sport get better fuel mileage.

The Range Rover Sport uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The RS Q8 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Range Rover Sport has 2.2 inches more front headroom and .6 inches more rear headroom than the RS Q8.

The Range Rover Sport has a much larger cargo volume than the RS Q8 with its rear seat up (31.9 vs. 30.5 cubic feet).

The Range Rover Sport’s cargo area is larger than the RS Q8’s in almost every dimension:

Pressing a switch automatically lowers or raises the Range Rover Sport’s rear seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The RS Q8 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

Standard Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) on the Range Rover Sport uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The RS Q8 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the RS Q8, the Range Rover Sport has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Sport has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the RS Q8 only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The RS Q8’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Range Rover Sport’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Range Rover Sport offers optional dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The RS Q8 doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Range Rover Sport’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The RS Q8 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The RS Q8 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport outsold the Audi Q8/SQ8/RS Q8 by over two to one during the 2022 model year.
