For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Lexus LC have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Infiniti Q60 doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The Lexus LC has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Q60 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The LC has standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Q60 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

The LC has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. Only the Q60 Luxe/Red Sport 400 offers a blind spot warning system.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the LC has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Only the Q60 Luxe/Red Sport 400 has a rear cross-path warning system.

The LC’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Q60 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the LC and the Q60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, collision warning systems, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available rear parking sensors.

There are over 20 percent more Lexus dealers than there are Infiniti dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the LC’s warranty.

The battery on the LC is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the LC’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The Q60’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are better in initial quality than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus above average in initial quality. With 47 more problems per 100 vehicles, Infiniti is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are more reliable than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Infiniti is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Lexus vehicles are more reliable than Infiniti vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Lexus third in overall reliability. Infiniti is ranked 11th.

The LC 500h’s standard 3.5 DOHC V6 hybrid produces 54 more horsepower (354 vs. 300) and 55 lbs.-ft. more torque (350 vs. 295) than the Q60’s standard 3.0 turbo V6. The LC 500’s standard 5.0 DOHC V8 produces 71 more horsepower (471 vs. 400) and 48 lbs.-ft. more torque (398 vs. 350) than the Q60 Red Sport 400’s standard 3.0 turbo V6.

As tested in Motor Trend the LC 500h 3.5 DOHC V6 hybrid is faster than the Infiniti Q60 3.0:

On the EPA test cycle the LC Coupe gets better mileage than the Q60:

The LC can travel with zero emissions on a full charge for .6 miles. The Q60 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the LC Hybrid’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Q60 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the LC Hybrid’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. The Q60 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The LC’s standard fuel tank has 1.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the Q60 (21.7 vs. 20 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The LC Hybrid’s standard fuel tank has 2.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Q60 (22.2 vs. 20 gallons).

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Lexus LC higher (5 to 7 out of 10) than the Infiniti Q60 (3). This means the LC produces up to 24.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Q60 every 15,000 miles.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Lexus LC, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Q60.

The LC 500h has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The Q60 doesn’t offer a CVT.

For better stopping power the LC’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Q60:

For better traction and acceleration, the LC has larger rear tires than the Q60 (275/40R20 vs. 255/40R19).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the LC has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Q60. The LC’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the Q60 Red Sport 400.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the LC can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. Run-flat tires aren’t available on some tire packages on the Q60.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the LC is 3 inches wider in the front and 2.2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Q60.

The LC 500 handles at .93 G’s, while the Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD pulls only .88 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The LC 500 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Q60 Red Sport 400 (24.6 seconds @ .79 average G’s vs. 25.5 seconds @ .76 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the LC Active Rear Steering’s turning circle is 1.9 feet tighter than the Q60’s (34.8 feet vs. 36.7 feet). The LC’s turning circle is 2.7 feet tighter than the Q60 AWD’s (35.4 feet vs. 38.1 feet).

The LC has .2 inches more front hip room, 1.9 inches more front shoulder room and .1 inches more rear legroom than the Q60.

The LC has a maintenance free battery for long life without checking the battery’s water level. The Q60 doesn’t have a maintenance free battery, so the water level in the battery’s cells must be checked often to prevent damage.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Lexus service is better than Infiniti. J.D. Power ranks Lexus first in service department satisfaction. With a 35% lower rating, Infiniti is ranked 9th.

The LC’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Q60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The LC offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Q60 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The LC’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The Q60’s parking brake has to be released manually.

The power windows standard on both the LC and the Q60 have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the LC is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The Q60 prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

Smart Access standard on the LC allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The Infiniti Q60’s Infiniti Intelligent Key doesn’t unlock the trunk.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the LC keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Q60 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The LC has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children. The Q60 doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.

The Lexus LC comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Infiniti Q60 isn’t available as a convertible.

The LC will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the LC will retain 46.02% to 48.14% of its original price after five years, while the Q60 only retains 43.6% to 44.67%.

The LC was chosen as one of Automobile Magazine’s “All Stars” in 2018. The Q60 has never been an “All Star.”

The Lexus LC outsold the Infiniti Q60 by 54 units during 2021.
