For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Jaguar XF have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Genesis G90 doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

Both the XF and G90 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The XF has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The G90’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the XF and the G90 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the XF for 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than Genesis pays for maintenance for the G90 (5/60,000 vs. 3/36,000).

On the EPA test cycle the XF gets better mileage than the G90:

Regenerative brakes improve the XF’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The G90 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the XF’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. The G90 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Jaguar XF higher (7 out of 10) than the Genesis G90 (3 to 5). This means the XF produces up to 24.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the G90 every 15,000 miles.

For better traction, the XF’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the G90 (255/35R20 vs. 245/45R19).

The XF’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the G90’s 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the XF offers optional 20-inch wheels. The G90’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

For better maneuverability, the XF’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the G90’s (38.2 feet vs. 39.2 feet).

The Jaguar XF may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1000 to 1050 pounds less than the Genesis G90.

The XF is 9.5 inches shorter than the G90, making the XF easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The XF’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The G90 doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the XF uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The G90 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

If the windows are left open on the XF the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the G90 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the XF to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The G90 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The XF SE/R-Dynamic offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The G90 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The XF R-Dynamic offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the G90.

The XF S’ optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The G90 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Insurance will cost less for the XF owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the XF will cost $1365 to $5195 less than the G90 over a five-year period.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Jaguar XF will be $26774 to $28325 less than for the Genesis G90.
