Compare the2023 Jaguar I-PaceVS 2023 Toyota bZ4X

Both the I-Pace and bZ4X have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The I-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The bZ4X’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the I-Pace. But it costs extra on the bZ4X.

Both the I-Pace and the bZ4X have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The I-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The bZ4X’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

The I-Pace’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the bZ4X’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the I-Pace for 3 years and 35000 miles longer than Toyota pays for maintenance for the bZ4X (5/60,000 vs. 2/25000).

The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 193 more horsepower (394 vs. 201) and 316 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 196) than the bZ4X’s standard electric motor. The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 180 more horsepower (394 vs. 214) and 264 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 248) than the bZ4X’s optional electric motors.

For better traction, the I-Pace has larger standard tires than the bZ4X (245/50R20 vs. 235/60R18). The I-Pace’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the bZ4X (255/40R22 vs. 235/60R18).

The I-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the bZ4X XLE’s standard 60 series tires. The I-Pace’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the bZ4X Limited’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the I-Pace has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the bZ4X XLE. The I-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the bZ4X Limited.

The I-Pace offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the bZ4X; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The front and rear suspension of the I-Pace uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the bZ4X, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The I-Pace offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The bZ4X’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The I-Pace has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The I-Pace’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The bZ4X doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the I-Pace’s wheelbase is 5.5 inches longer than on the bZ4X (117.7 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the I-Pace is 1.7 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than on the bZ4X.

The I-Pace HSE handles at .90 G’s, while the bZ4X Limited AWD pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The front grille of the I-Pace uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The bZ4X doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The I-Pace has 1.3 inches more front headroom and 1 inch more rear headroom than the bZ4X.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the I-Pace. The bZ4X doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The I-Pace has a 1653 lbs. towing capacity. The bZ4X has no towing capacity.

When three different drivers share the I-Pace, the memory seats and mirrors make it convenient for all three. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position and outside mirror angle. The bZ4X doesn’t offer a memory system.

The I-Pace offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The bZ4X doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the I-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The bZ4X doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The I-Pace offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The bZ4X doesn’t offer headlight washers.

When the I-Pace is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The bZ4X’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The I-Pace’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The bZ4X has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The I-Pace’s Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The bZ4X doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
