Compare the2023 Jaguar I-PaceVS 2022 Porsche Taycan

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the I-Pace. But it costs extra on the Taycan.

The I-Pace has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the Taycan’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the I-Pace has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the Taycan.

The I-Pace’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Taycan doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the I-Pace and the Taycan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available around view monitors.

The I-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Taycan’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the I-Pace for 3 years and 36,000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the Taycan (5/60,000 vs. 2/24,000).

The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 258 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 254) than the Taycan’s standard electric motor. The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 249 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 263) than the Taycan Performance Plus’ optional electric motor. The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 144 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 368) than the Taycan Cross Turismo’s standard electric motors.

For better traction, the I-Pace has larger standard tires than the Taycan (245/50R20 vs. 225/55R19).

The I-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Taycan’s standard 55 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the I-Pace has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Taycan. The I-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the Taycan.

The I-Pace offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Taycan; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The front and rear suspension of the I-Pace uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Taycan, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The I-Pace has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The I-Pace’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Taycan doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the I-Pace’s wheelbase is 3.5 inches longer than on the Taycan (117.7 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

The I-Pace HSE handles at .93 G’s, while the Taycan Cross Turismo 4 pulls only .89 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The I-Pace is 11.5 inches shorter than the Taycan Cross Turismo, making the I-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

For excellent aerodynamics, the I-Pace has standard flush composite headlights. The Taycan has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The I-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Taycan Cross Turismo with its rear seat up (25.3 vs. 18.7 cubic feet). The I-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Taycan Cross Turismo with its rear seat folded (53.6 vs. 45.7 cubic feet).

If the windows are left open on the I-Pace the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Taycan can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the I-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Taycan doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

Consumer Reports rated the I-Pace’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the Taycan’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The I-Pace offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Taycan doesn’t offer headlight washers.
