To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the I-Pace. But it costs extra on the Air.

The I-Pace’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Air.

The I-Pace has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the Air’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the I-Pace has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the Air.

The I-Pace has standard SOS Emergency Call, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Air doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the I-Pace and the Air have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights and available around view monitors.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the I-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Lucid Motors doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Air.

There are almost 10 times as many Jaguar dealers as there are Lucid Motors dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the I-Pace’s warranty.

The I-Pace stops much shorter than the Air:

For better traction, the I-Pace’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Air (255/40R22 vs. 245/35R21).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the I-Pace has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Air. The I-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the Air.

The I-Pace offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Air; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The front and rear suspension of the I-Pace uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Air, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The I-Pace has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The I-Pace’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Air doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the I-Pace’s wheelbase is 1.2 inches longer than on the Air (117.7 inches vs. 116.5 inches).

The I-Pace HSE handles at .90 G’s, while the Air Grand Touring pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Jaguar I-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 500 pounds less than the Lucid Motors Air.

The I-Pace is 11.6 inches shorter than the Air, making the I-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the I-Pace uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Air doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The I-Pace has .4 inches more front headroom and .1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Air.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the I-Pace’s available liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Air doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The I-Pace has a 1653 lbs. towing capacity. The Air has no towing capacity.

The I-Pace offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Air doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the I-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Air doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The I-Pace offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Air doesn’t offer headlight washers.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the I-Pace detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Air doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

The I-Pace’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Air’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

When the I-Pace is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Air’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The I-Pace’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Air has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

On extremely cold winter days, the I-Pace’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the vehicle heater warms up. The Air doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.
