Compare the2023 Jaguar I-PaceVS 2023 Cadillac Lyriq

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Jaguar I-Pace have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Cadillac Lyriq doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the I-Pace. But it costs extra on the Lyriq.

The I-Pace’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the I-Pace and the Lyriq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The I-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Lyriq’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the I-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Lyriq.

The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 54 more horsepower (394 vs. 340) and 187 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 325) than the Lyriq’s standard electric motor. The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 62 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 450) than the Lyriq’s optional electric motors.

As tested in Car and Driver the Jaguar I-Pace is faster than the Cadillac Lyriq electric motor:

The I-Pace has a standard locking charge port with a remote release located convenient to the driver. The Lyriq doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the I-Pace’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Lyriq:

The I-Pace offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Lyriq; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The front and rear suspension of the I-Pace uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Lyriq, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The I-Pace offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Lyriq’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The I-Pace has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The I-Pace’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The I-Pace’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Lyriq’s (48.7% to 51.3%). This gives the I-Pace more stable handling and braking.

The I-Pace HSE handles at .90 G’s, while the Lyriq pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Jaguar I-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 850 pounds less than the Cadillac Lyriq.

The I-Pace is 1 foot shorter than the Lyriq, making the I-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The I-Pace has 1.3 inches more front headroom and .4 inches more rear headroom than the Lyriq.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the I-Pace. The Lyriq doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The I-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Lyriq’s (1653 vs. 0 pounds).

The I-Pace offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the I-Pace the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Lyriq can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the I-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Lyriq doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The I-Pace offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Lyriq doesn’t offer headlight washers.

Both the I-Pace and the Lyriq have standard heated front seats. The I-Pace also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Lyriq.

The Jaguar I-Pace outsold the Cadillac Lyriq by over three to one during 2022.
