Both the I-Pace and X5 xDrive45e have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The I-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X5 xDrive45e’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The I-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The X5 xDrive45e’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the I-Pace for 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than BMW pays for maintenance for the X5 xDrive45e (5/60,000 vs. 3/36,000).

The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 5 more horsepower (394 vs. 389) and 69 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 443) than the X5 xDrive45e’s 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

The I-Pace can travel with zero emissions on a full charge for 217 to 246 miles. The X5 xDrive45e has to start its internal combustion engine after only 31 miles.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Jaguar I-Pace higher (10 out of 10) than the BMW X5 xDrive45e (7). This means the I-Pace produces up to 11.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the X5 xDrive45e every 15,000 miles.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the I-Pace has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the X5 xDrive45e. The I-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the X5 xDrive45e.

The I-Pace’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the X5 xDrive45e’s (47.2% to 52.8%). This gives the I-Pace more stable handling and braking.
