The F-Type’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the 911.

The F-Type’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The 911 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the F-Type and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The F-Type comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The 911’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Type for 4 years and 50,000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the 911 (5/60,000 vs. 1/10,000).

For better traction, the F-Type has larger front standard tires than the 911 (F:255/35R20 & R:295/30R20 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:295/35R20). The F-Type R’s front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 911 (265/35R20 vs. 255/35R20).

The F-Type’s 255/35R20 front and 295/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911’s standard 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Type has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch front wheels are standard on the 911.

The F-Type’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The 911 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the F-Type’s wheelbase is 6.7 inches longer than on the 911 (103.2 inches vs. 96.5 inches). The F-Type’s wheelbase is 6.5 inches longer than on the 911 GT3 (103.2 inches vs. 96.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the F-Type is 2.5 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

The F-Type’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (54.5% to 45.5%) than the 911’s (39.5% to 60.5%). This gives the F-Type more stable handling and braking.

The F-Type Coupe has a much larger trunk than the 911 Coupe with its rear seat up (14.4 vs. 4.6 cubic feet). The F-Type has a much larger trunk with its rear seat folded than the 911 Coupe with its rear seat folded (14.4 vs. 13.8 cubic feet).

The F-Type Convertible has a much larger trunk with its top down than the 911 Cabriolet with its top down (7.3 vs. 4.6 cubic feet).

With its convertible body style and remote trunk release lockout, the F-Type offers cargo security. The 911’s non-lockable folding seat defeats cargo security.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the F-Type Coupe offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button. The 911 doesn’t offer a power trunk.

The F-Type has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The 911 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional in the 911, the F-Type offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The F-Type’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the 911.

On a hot day the F-Type’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the 911 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F-Type has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The 911 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

Insurance will cost less for the F-Type owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the F-Type will cost $3115 less than the 911 over a five-year period.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Jaguar F-Type will be $7368 to $54783 less than for the Porsche 911.
