Both the F-Pace and GLC have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The GLC’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the F-Pace. But it costs extra on the GLC.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the F-Pace’s standard All Surface Progress Control allows you to creep down safely. The GLC doesn’t offer All Surface Progress Control.

The F-Pace’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the GLC.

Both the F-Pace and the GLC have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The GLC’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

The F-Pace’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the GLC’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the GLC.

The F-Pace R-Dynamic S’ standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 140 more horsepower (395 vs. 255) and 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (406 vs. 273) than the GLC’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 287 more horsepower (542 vs. 255) and 243 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 273) than the GLC’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

As tested in Motor Trend the F-Pace R-Dynamic S 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid is faster than the Mercedes GLC:

Regenerative brakes improve the F-Pace’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The GLC doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The F-Pace has 4.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the GLC (21.9 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the F-Pace has larger standard tires than the GLC (255/55R19 vs. 235/60R18). The F-Pace SVR’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the GLC (F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21 vs. 255/45R20).

The F-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GLC’s standard 60 series tires. The F-Pace SVR’s optional 265/40R22 front and 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the GLC’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the GLC. The F-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the GLC.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the GLC; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare or run-flat tires, either of which has mileage and speed limitations.

The F-Pace offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The GLC’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the F-Pace is .9 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than the track on the GLC.

The F-Pace’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the GLC’s (53% to 47%). This gives the F-Pace more stable handling and braking.

The F-Pace SVR handles at .89 G’s, while the GLC 300 4MATIC pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The F-Pace SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.3 seconds quicker than the GLC 300 4MATIC (25 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 27.3 seconds @ .65 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace has a 3.4 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the GLC (8.4 vs. 5 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The F-Pace SVR’s minimum ground clearance is 3.6 inches higher than on the GLC (8.6 vs. 5 inches).

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The GLC doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The F-Pace has 1.9 inches more front headroom and .4 inches more front shoulder room than the GLC.

The front step up height for the F-Pace is .8 inches lower than the GLC (19.2” vs. 20”). The F-Pace’s rear step up height is 2.7 inches lower than the GLC’s (19.8” vs. 22.5”).

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the GLC with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 19.4 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the GLC with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 56.5 cubic feet).

The F-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the GLC’s (5291 vs. 3500 pounds).

A Trailer Stability Assist is standard on the F-Pace, using the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the GLC.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the F-Pace has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the GLC only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The F-Pace (except Base) offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the GLC.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar F-Pace has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the GLC.
