Both the F-Pace and RX have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The RX’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the F-Pace. But it costs extra on the RX.

Both the F-Pace and the RX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The RX’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 4 years and 50,000 miles longer than Lexus pays for maintenance for the RX (5/60,000 vs. 1/10,000).

The battery on the F-Pace is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the F-Pace’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The RX’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the F-Pace’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Lexus only offers a regenerative brake system on the RX Hybrid.

Regardless of its engine, the F-Pace’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. Lexus only offers an automatic engine start/stop system on the RX 450h, and doesn’t offer a disable button.

The F-Pace has 4.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the RX Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (21.9 vs. 17.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The F-Pace has 2.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the RX’s standard fuel tank (21.9 vs. 19.2 gallons).

For better traction, the F-Pace has larger standard tires than the RX (255/55R19 vs. 235/65R18). The F-Pace SVR’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the RX (F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21 vs. 235/65R18).

The F-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the RX’s standard 65 series tires. The F-Pace SVR’s optional 265/40R22 front and 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the RX’s optional 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the RX. The F-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the RX.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the F-Pace can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The RX doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the RX; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the F-Pace’s wheelbase is 3.3 inches longer than on the RX (113.1 inches vs. 109.8 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the F-Pace is .3 inches wider in the front and 1.2 inches wider in the rear than the track on the RX.

The F-Pace’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the RX’s (57% to 43%). This gives the F-Pace more stable handling and braking.

The F-Pace SVR handles at .89 G’s, while the RX 350 F Sport AWD pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The F-Pace SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.5 seconds quicker than the RX 450h (25 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 27.5 seconds @ .65 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace has a greater minimum ground clearance than the RX (8.4 vs. 8.2 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The F-Pace SVR’s minimum ground clearance is .4 inch higher than on the RX (8.6 vs. 8.2 inches).

The Jaguar F-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 pounds less than the Lexus RX.

The F-Pace is 5.6 inches shorter than the RX, making the F-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The RX doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the RX with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 16 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the RX with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 32.6 cubic feet).

The F-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the RX’s (5291 vs. 0 pounds).

A Trailer Stability Assist is standard on the F-Pace, using the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the RX.

The engine in the F-Pace is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the RX. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because there are no rear spark plugs and the accessory belts are in front.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional in the RX, the F-Pace (except Base) offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the F-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The RX doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The F-Pace (except Base) offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the RX.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar F-Pace has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the RX.

The F-Pace SVR’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The RX doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
