To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the F-Pace. But it costs extra on the XC60.

Both the F-Pace and the XC60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The XC60’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than Volvo pays for maintenance for the XC60 (5/60,000 vs. 3/36,000).

The F-Pace has more powerful engines than the XC60:

As tested in Motor Trend the F-Pace R-Dynamic S 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid is faster than the XC60 B6 2.0 turbo/supercharged 4-cylinder:

On the EPA test cycle the F-Pace P250 gets better fuel mileage than the XC60 B6 running its gasoline engine (22 city/27 hwy vs. 21 city/27 hwy).

Both the F-Pace and the XC60 have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. All F-Paces have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. The XC60 T8 doesn’t offer a way to disable start/stop.

The F-Pace has 3.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the XC60 (21.9 vs. 18.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The F-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the XC60’s standard 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the XC60. The F-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the XC60.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the F-Pace can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The XC60 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the XC60; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

The front and rear suspension of the F-Pace uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the XC60, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The F-Pace SVR handles at .89 G’s, while the XC60 Recharge Polestar Engineered pulls only .86 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The F-Pace SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.3 seconds quicker than the XC60 B5 Core AWD (25 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 27.3 seconds @ .62 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace has a greater minimum ground clearance than the XC60 w/Air Suspension (8.4 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The F-Pace SVR’s minimum ground clearance is .1 inch higher than on the XC60 (8.6 vs. 8.5 inches).

The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The XC60 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The F-Pace has 1.7 inches more front headroom and .5 inches more rear headroom than the XC60.

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the XC60 with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 24.4 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the XC60 with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 63.3 cubic feet).

The F-Pace’s cargo area is larger than the XC60’s in almost every dimension:

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the F-Pace S/R-Dynamic/SVR’s optional rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The XC60 doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The F-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the XC60’s (5291 vs. 3500 pounds).

A Trailer Stability Assist is standard on the F-Pace, using the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the XC60.

The engine in the F-Pace is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the XC60. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

The F-Pace (except Base)’s optional easy entry system raises the steering wheel when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The XC60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The F-Pace (except Base) offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the XC60.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar F-Pace has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the XC60.

The F-Pace SVR’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The XC60 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
