Compare the2023 Jaguar F-PaceVS 2023 Infiniti QX50

Both the F-Pace and QX50 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The QX50’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the F-Pace. But it costs extra on the QX50.

The F-Pace’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The QX50 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the F-Pace and the QX50 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The QX50’s 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than Infiniti pays for maintenance for the QX50 (5/60,000 vs. 3/36,000).

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the F-Pace has a standard 800-amp battery. The QX50’s 720-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

The battery on the F-Pace is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the F-Pace’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The QX50’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

The F-Pace R-Dynamic S’ standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 127 more horsepower (395 vs. 268) and 126 lbs.-ft. more torque (406 vs. 280) than the QX50’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 274 more horsepower (542 vs. 268) and 236 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 280) than the QX50’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

As tested in Motor Trend the Jaguar F-Pace is faster than the Infiniti QX50:

Regenerative brakes improve the F-Pace’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The QX50 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the F-Pace’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The QX50 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The F-Pace has 5.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the QX50 (21.9 vs. 16 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the F-Pace has larger standard tires than the QX50 (255/55R19 vs. 235/55R19). The F-Pace SVR’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the QX50 (F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21 vs. 255/45R20).

The F-Pace SVR’s optional 265/40R22 front and 295/35R22 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the QX50 Sport/Sensory/Autograph’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace offers optional 22-inch wheels. The QX50’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the QX50; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

The F-Pace offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The QX50’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the F-Pace’s wheelbase is 2.9 inches longer than on the QX50 (113.1 inches vs. 110.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the F-Pace is .3 inches wider in the front and 1.2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the QX50.

The F-Pace’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the QX50’s (57.4% to 42.6%). This gives the F-Pace more stable handling and braking.

The F-Pace SVR handles at .89 G’s, while the QX50 AWD pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The F-Pace SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.9 seconds quicker than the QX50 AWD (25 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 26.9 seconds @ .64 average G’s).

The F-Pace has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the QX50 with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 31.4 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the QX50 with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 65.1 cubic feet).

The F-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the QX50’s (5291 vs. 0 pounds).

Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the F-Pace uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The QX50 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The engine in the F-Pace is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the QX50. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the QX50 Luxe/Sport/Sensory/Autograph, the F-Pace (except Base) offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The power windows standard on both the F-Pace and the QX50 have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the F-Pace is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The QX50 prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The F-Pace’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The QX50’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the F-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The QX50 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The F-Pace (except Base) offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the QX50.

The F-Pace SVR’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The QX50 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
