Both the F-Pace and Terrain have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The F-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Terrain’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the F-Pace. But it costs extra on the Terrain.

The F-Pace has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the Terrain’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the F-Pace has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the Terrain.

The F-Pace’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Terrain doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the F-Pace and the Terrain have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available around view monitors.

The F-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Terrain’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

The F-Pace’s 6 year corrosion warranty has no mileage limitations, but the corrosion warranty on the Terrain runs out after 100,000 miles.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. GMC only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Terrain.

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the F-Pace has a standard 800-amp battery. The Terrain’s 700-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

The battery on the F-Pace is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the F-Pace’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The Terrain’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

The F-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 71 more horsepower (246 vs. 175) and 66 lbs.-ft. more torque (269 vs. 203) than the Terrain’s 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder. The F-Pace R-Dynamic S’ standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid produces 220 more horsepower (395 vs. 175) and 203 lbs.-ft. more torque (406 vs. 203) than the Terrain’s 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder. The F-Pace SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 367 more horsepower (542 vs. 175) and 313 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 203) than the Terrain’s 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder.

Regenerative brakes improve the F-Pace’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Terrain doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The F-Pace has 7 gallons more fuel capacity than the Terrain FWD’s standard fuel tank (21.9 vs. 14.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The F-Pace has 6.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the Terrain AWD’s standard fuel tank (21.9 vs. 15.6 gallons).

For better stopping power the F-Pace’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Terrain:

The F-Pace’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Terrain are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the F-Pace has larger standard tires than the Terrain (255/55R19 vs. 225/65R17). The F-Pace SVR’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Terrain (F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21 vs. 235/50R19).

The F-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Terrain SLE/AT4’s standard 65 series tires. The F-Pace SVR’s optional 265/40R22 front and 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the Terrain’s optional 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the Terrain SLE/AT4. The F-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels optional on the Terrain.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the F-Pace can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Terrain doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Terrain; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The F-Pace has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the F-Pace flat and controlled during cornering. The Terrain’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The F-Pace offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Terrain’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the F-Pace’s wheelbase is 5.8 inches longer than on the Terrain (113.1 inches vs. 107.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the F-Pace is 2.5 inches wider in the front and 2.7 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Terrain.

The F-Pace SVR handles at .89 G’s, while the Terrain Denali AWD pulls only .79 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The F-Pace SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.5 seconds quicker than the Terrain Denali AWD (25 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 27.5 seconds @ .64 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the F-Pace has a 1.5 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Terrain SLE (8.4 vs. 6.9 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The F-Pace SVR’s minimum ground clearance is .7 inch higher than on the Terrain SLT/AT4/Denali (8.6 vs. 7.9 inches).

The F-Pace has .5 inches more front shoulder room and .2 inches more rear shoulder room than the Terrain.

The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Terrain with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 29.6 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Terrain with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 63.3 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the F-Pace. The Terrain doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The F-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Terrain’s (5291 vs. 1500 pounds).

The F-Pace uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Terrain uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The engine in the F-Pace is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the Terrain. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the Terrain SLT/AT4/Denali, the F-Pace (except Base) offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The F-Pace’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Terrain’s passenger windows don’t close automatically.

If the windows are left open on the F-Pace the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Terrain can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The F-Pace’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Terrain’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the F-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Terrain doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The F-Pace (except Base) offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Terrain.

The F-Pace has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the Terrain.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar F-Pace has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the Terrain Denali offers wireless charging.
