Regenerative brakes improve the F-Pace’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The GV70 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.
The F-Pace has 4.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the GV70 (21.9 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
Brakes and Stopping
For better stopping power the F-Pace’s brake rotors are larger than those on the GV70:

Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the F-Pace has larger standard tires than the GV70 (255/55R19 vs. 235/60R18). The F-Pace SVR’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the GV70 (F:265/45R21 & R:295/40R21 vs. 255/40R21).
The F-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GV70’s 60 series tires. The F-Pace SVR’s optional 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 35 series profile than the GV70 Sport Prestige’s optional 40 series tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the F-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the GV70. The F-Pace’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the GV70 Sport Prestige.
Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the F-Pace can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The GV70 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.
The F-Pace offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the GV70; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.
Suspension and Handling
The F-Pace has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The GV70 doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.
The F-Pace’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the GV70’s (52.6% to 47.4%). This gives the F-Pace more stable handling and braking.
The F-Pace SVR handles at .89 G’s, while the GV70 Advanced pulls only .82 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.
The F-Pace SVR executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.4 seconds quicker than the GV70 Sport Prestige (25 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 26.4 seconds @ .7 average G’s).
For greater off-road capability the F-Pace has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the GV70 (8.4 vs. 7.3 inches), allowing the F-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The F-Pace SVR’s minimum ground clearance is 1.3 inches higher than on the GV70 (8.6 vs. 7.3 inches).
Chassis
The F-Pace uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The GV70 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.
Cargo Capacity
The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the GV70 with its rear seat up (32.1 vs. 28.9 cubic feet). The F-Pace has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the GV70 with its rear seat folded (70.4 vs. 56.9 cubic feet).
The F-Pace’s cargo area is larger than the GV70’s in almost every dimension:
|

39.6”/71.8” |

Max Width |

Towing
The F-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the GV70’s (5291 vs. 3500 pounds).
Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the F-Pace uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The GV70 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.
Ergonomics
The F-Pace has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The GV70 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.
Unlike the driver-only memory system in the GV70 Select/Advanced/Sport/3.5T, the F-Pace (except Base) offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.
If the windows are left open on the F-Pace the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the GV70 can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.
Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the F-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The GV70 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.
