Compare the2023 Jaguar E-PaceVS 2022 Toyota Venza

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Jaguar E-Pace have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Toyota Venza doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

Both the E-Pace and Venza have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The E-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Venza’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the E-Pace deploy with different levels of force to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The E-Pace’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Venza’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the E-Pace’s standard All Surface Progress Control allows you to creep down safely. The Venza doesn’t offer All Surface Progress Control.

Both the E-Pace and the Venza have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The E-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Venza’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

The E-Pace’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Venza’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the E-Pace for 3 years and 35000 miles longer than Toyota pays for maintenance for the Venza (5/60,000 vs. 2/25000).

The E-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 27 more horsepower (246 vs. 219) than the Venza’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Car and Driver the Jaguar E-Pace is faster than the Toyota Venza:

The E-Pace has 3.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Venza (17.7 vs. 14.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the E-Pace’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Venza:

The E-Pace’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Venza are solid, not vented.

The E-Pace stops shorter than the Venza:

For better traction, the E-Pace has larger standard tires than the Venza (235/55R19 vs. 225/60R18). The E-Pace’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Venza (245/45R20 vs. 225/60R18).

The E-Pace’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Venza LE’s standard 60 series tires. The E-Pace’s optional tires have a lower 45 series profile than the Venza XLE/Limited’s 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the E-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Venza LE. The E-Pace’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels on the Venza XLE/Limited.

The E-Pace offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Venza’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The E-Pace has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Venza doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the E-Pace is 1.2 inches wider in the front and .3 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Venza.

The E-Pace SE handles at .83 G’s, while the Venza Limited pulls only .79 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For greater off-road capability the E-Pace has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Venza (8 vs. 7.68 inches), allowing the E-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The E-Pace is 1 foot, 1.6 inches shorter than the Venza, making the E-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The E-Pace’s cargo area is larger than the Venza’s in every dimension:

The E-Pace has a 3968 lbs. towing capacity. The Venza has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Stability Assist on the E-Pace uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Venza doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The E-Pace uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Venza uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The E-Pace has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Venza doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The E-Pace’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Venza’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the E-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Venza doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

When the E-Pace is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Venza’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The E-Pace’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Venza offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The E-Pace has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats are only available on the Venza XLE/Limited. The E-Pace also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Venza.
