Compare the2023 Toyota Crown VS 2023 Cadillac CT4

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Crown. But it costs extra on the CT4.

Both the Crown and the CT4 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Toyota Crown weighs 518 to 884 pounds more than the Cadillac CT4. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the Crown for 2 years and 25000 miles. Toyota will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the CT4.

There are over 2 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Crown’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota above average in long-term dependability. With 34 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Cadillac is rated lower.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Toyota second in overall reliability. Cadillac is ranked 21st.

The Crown Platinum’s standard 2.4 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 103 more horsepower (340 vs. 237) than the CT4’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the Crown gets better mileage than the CT4:

Regenerative brakes improve the Crown’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The CT4 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Crown has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The CT4 doesn’t offer a CVT.

For better stopping power the Crown’s brake rotors are larger than those on the CT4:

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Crown has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the CT4 Luxury. The Crown’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels optional on the CT4.

The Crown has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the CT4; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the CT4 don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

The Crown offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The CT4’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Crown’s wheelbase is 2.9 inches longer than on the CT4 (112.2 inches vs. 109.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Crown is 2.7 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than on the CT4.

The Crown has 2.2 inches more front hip room, 1.9 inches more front shoulder room, 1 inch more rear headroom, 5.5 inches more rear legroom, .6 inches more rear hip room and 1.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the CT4.

The Crown has a much larger trunk than the CT4 (15.2 vs. 10.7 cubic feet).

The Crown’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The CT4’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

The Crown has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats cost extra on the CT4. The Crown Limited/Platinum also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the CT4.

The Crown Platinum’s Advanced Park can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The CT4 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
