Compare the2023 Ford Escape VS 2022 Lincoln Corsair

Both the Escape and the Corsair have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

There are over 4 times as many Ford dealers as there are Lincoln dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Escape’s warranty.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Ford 4 places higher in reliability than Lincoln.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Escape 1.5 Turbo’s fuel efficiency. The Corsair doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Escape FWD’s standard fuel tank has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corsair Grand Touring Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (14.8 vs. 11.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the Escape’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Corsair:

The Escape has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The Corsair’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The Escape AWD handles at .87 G’s, while the Corsair Reserve AWD pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Ford Escape may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 950 pounds less than the Lincoln Corsair.

The Escape has .5 inches more front headroom, .5 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom, 2.1 inches more rear legroom and 2.5 inches more rear hip room than the Corsair.

The Escape has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Corsair with its rear seat up (37.5 vs. 27.6 cubic feet). The Escape has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Corsair with its rear seat folded (65.4 vs. 57.6 cubic feet).

Maximum trailer towing in the Lincoln Corsair is limited to 3000 pounds. The Escape offers up to a 3500 lbs. towing capacity.

Insurance will cost less for the Escape owner. The Car Book by Jack Gillis rates the Escape with a number “5” insurance rate while the Corsair is rated higher at a number “8” rate.

The Escape will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Escape will retain 49.35% to 49.88% of its original price after five years, while the Corsair only retains 47.08% to 47.36%.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Escape is less expensive to operate than the Corsair because it costs $490 less to do the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance for 50,000 miles. Typical repairs cost much less on the Escape than the Corsair, including $207 less for a water pump, $75 less for front brake pads, $5 less for a starter, $203 less for fuel injection, $214 less for a fuel pump, $69 less for front struts and $457 less for a power steering pump.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Ford Escape will be $8806 to $10113 less than for the Lincoln Corsair.

The Ford Escape outsold the Lincoln Corsair/MKC by over five to one during the 2022 model year.
