Compare the2023 Genesis G90VS 2022 Maserati Quattroporte

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Genesis G90 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Maserati Quattroporte doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The G90’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the G90 and Quattroporte have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The G90 has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Quattroporte’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the G90 are reminded to check the back seat when a sensor determines the back seat is occupied. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The G90 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The G90 offers optional Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist-Reverse that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the G90. But it costs extra on the Quattroporte.

The G90’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the G90 and the Quattroporte have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The G90 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Quattroporte’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the G90 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Maserati covers the Quattroporte. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Quattroporte ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The G90’s corrosion warranty is 3 years and unlimited miles longer than the Quattroporte’s (7/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the G90 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Quattroporte.

There are almost 3 times as many Genesis dealers as there are Maserati dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the G90’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Maserati vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 99 more problems per 100 vehicles, Maserati is ranked 32nd, below the industry average.

On the EPA test cycle the G90 gets better mileage than the Quattroporte:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Genesis G90 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The Quattroporte requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Genesis G90 higher (5 out of 10) than the Maserati Quattroporte (1 to 3). This means the G90 produces up to 39 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Quattroporte every 15,000 miles.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the G90 3.5T has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Quattroporte.

The G90 3.5T has a standard automatic load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better maneuverability, the G90 3.5T e-SC’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the Quattroporte’s (37.1 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

The G90 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The G90 has .8 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more rear headroom and 2.6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Quattroporte.

With its sedan body style and remote trunk release lockout, the G90 offers cargo security. The Quattroporte’s non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Quattroporte, the G90 has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The G90 has a standard heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the G90 has standard extendable sun visors. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The G90 has standard massaging front and second row seats (second row massaging seats on 3.5T e-SC). Massaging seats aren’t available in the Quattroporte.

The G90’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
