Safety
Warranty
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 812 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Aston Martin doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Vantage.
Engine
The 812’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 286 more horsepower (789 vs. 503) and 25 lbs.-ft. more torque (530 vs. 505) than the Vantage’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The 812’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 262 more horsepower (789 vs. 527) and 25 lbs.-ft. more torque (530 vs. 505) than the Vantage F1’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The 812 Competizione’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 291 more horsepower (818 vs. 527) and 5 lbs.-ft. more torque (510 vs. 505) than the Vantage F1’s standard 4.0 turbo V8.

Fuel Economy and Range
The 812 has 5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Vantage (24.3 vs. 19.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
The 812 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Vantage doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Transmission
The 812 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Vantage doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
The 812’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Vantage doesn’t offer launch control.
Brakes and Stopping
The 812 stops shorter than the Vantage:

Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the 812 has larger tires than the Vantage (F:275/35R20 & R:315/35R20 vs. F:255/40R20 & R:295/35R20).
The 812’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Vantage’s standard 40 series front tires.
Chassis
The Ferrari 812 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 100 to 450 pounds less than the Aston Martin Vantage.
The 812’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The Vantage doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.
Passenger Space
The 812 has .8 inches more front headroom, 1.7 inches more front legroom and 2.5 inches more front shoulder room than the Vantage.
Cargo Capacity
A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the 812. The Vantage doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.
Ergonomics
The 812’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Vantage does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The 812’s driver’s power window opens or closes with one touch of the window control, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths. The Vantage’s power windows’ switch has to be held the entire time to close it fully.
To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the 812 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Vantage doesn’t offer cornering lights.
The 812’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The Vantage’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.
Recommendations
The 812 was chosen as one of Automobile Magazine’s “All Stars” in 2019. The Vantage has never been an “All Star.”
