Safety
Warranty
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the 296 GTB for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Aston Martin doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Vantage.
Engine
The 296 GTB’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 316 more horsepower (819 vs. 503) than the Vantage’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The 296 GTB’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 292 more horsepower (819 vs. 527) than the Vantage F1’s standard 4.0 turbo V8.
Fuel Economy and Range
On the EPA test cycle the 296 GTB running on electricity gets better mileage than the Vantage V8 (45 city/49 hwy MPGe vs. 18 city/24 hwy).
The 296 GTB can travel with zero emissions for 8 miles. The Vantage can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.
Regenerative brakes improve the 296 GTB’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Vantage doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.
Transmission
The 296 GTB offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Vantage doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
Tires and Wheels
For better traction and acceleration, the 296 GTB has larger rear tires than the Vantage (305/35R20 vs. 295/35R20).
The 296 GTB’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Vantage’s standard 40 series front tires.
Chassis
The Ferrari 296 GTB may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 to 600 pounds less than the Aston Martin Vantage.
Passenger Space
The 296 GTB has 14 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Vantage (61 vs. 47).
Cargo Capacity
A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the 296 GTB. The Vantage doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.
Ergonomics
The 296 GTB’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Vantage does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The 296 GTB has a standard heads-up display that projects speed and tachometer readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Vantage doesn’t offer a heads-up display.
The 296 GTB’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Vantage’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.
