The GR Corolla has standard Whiplash Injury Lessening Seats, which use a specially designed seat to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Whiplash Injury Lessening Seats system allows the backrest to travel backwards to cushion the occupants and the headrests move forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Civic Si doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The GR Corolla has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Civic Si doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The GR Corolla has standard Safety Connect™, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Civic Si doesn’t offer a GPS response system, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the GR Corolla and the Civic Si have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the GR Corolla for 2 years and 25000 miles. Toyota will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Honda doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Civic Si.

There are over 16 percent more Toyota dealers than there are Honda dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the GR Corolla’s warranty.

The GR Corolla’s standard 1.6 turbo 3-cylinder produces 100 more horsepower (300 vs. 200) and 81 lbs.-ft. more torque (273 vs. 192) than the Civic Si’s 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder. The GR Corolla Morizo Edition’s standard 1.6 turbo 3-cylinder produces 100 more horsepower (300 vs. 200) and 103 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 192) than the Civic Si’s 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder.

The GR Corolla’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Civic Si are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the GR Corolla Morizo Edition’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Civic Si (245/40R18 vs. 235/40R18).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the GR Corolla is 2.1 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Civic Si.

The GR Corolla handles at .94 G’s, while the Civic Si pulls only .93 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The GR Corolla executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.3 seconds quicker than the Civic Si (25 seconds @ .75 average G’s vs. 26.3 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the GR Corolla’s turning circle is 2.1 feet tighter than the Civic Si’s (36 feet vs. 38.1 feet).

The GR Corolla is 10.4 inches shorter than the Civic Si, making the GR Corolla easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The GR Corolla has .8 inches more front headroom and .5 inches more rear headroom than the Civic Si.

To allow full utilization of available cargo room, the GR Corolla’s hatch uses gas strut supported hinges that don’t intrude into the cargo area. The Civic Si’s useful trunk space is reduced by its intrusive beam hinge.

The power windows standard on both the GR Corolla and the Civic Si have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the GR Corolla is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The Civic Si prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The GR Corolla’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Civic Si’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the GR Corolla (except MORIZO Edition) has a standard rear wiper. The Civic Si doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The GR Corolla offers optional heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated seats aren’t available in the Civic Si.

On extremely cold winter days, the GR Corolla’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Civic Si doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To direct the driver from any location to a given street address, a GPS navigation system is standard on the GR Corolla. The GR Corolla’s navigation system also has a real-time traffic update feature that offers alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service not available in all areas.) The Civic Si doesn’t offer a navigation system.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Toyota GR Corolla offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The Civic Si doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
