In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Bronco Sport are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Corsair doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Bronco Sport. But it costs extra on the Corsair.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Bronco Sport’s standard Trail Control allows you to creep down safely. The Corsair doesn’t offer Trail Control.

Both the Bronco Sport and the Corsair have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available rear parking sensors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Ford Bronco Sport is safer than the Lincoln Corsair:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Ford Bronco Sport is safer than the Lincoln Corsair:

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Bronco Sport its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2022, a rating granted to only 101 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The Corsair is only a standard “Top Safety Pick” for 2022.

Warranty

There are over 4 times as many Ford dealers as there are Lincoln dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Bronco Sport’s warranty.

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Bronco Sport’s reliability 68 points higher than the Corsair.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Bronco Sport third among small SUVs in their 2022 Initial Quality Study. The Corsair isn’t in the top three in its category.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Ford vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Ford 4 places higher in reliability than Lincoln.

Engine

As tested in Car and Driver the Bronco Sport Badlands 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder is faster than the Lincoln Corsair 2.3 turbo 4-cylinder:

The Bronco Sport has 4.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corsair Grand Touring Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (16 vs. 11.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Tires and Wheels

The Bronco Sport offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Corsair; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

Suspension and Handling

The Bronco Sport has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The Corsair’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

Chassis

The Ford Bronco Sport may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 800 pounds less than the Lincoln Corsair.

The Bronco Sport is 7.9 inches shorter than the Corsair, making the Bronco Sport easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

The Bronco Sport has 3.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Corsair (105.7 vs. 102.5).

The Bronco Sport has 2 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room, 3 inches more rear headroom and 2.6 inches more rear hip room than the Corsair.

Cargo Capacity

The Bronco Sport has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Corsair with its rear seat up (32.5 vs. 27.6 cubic feet). The Bronco Sport has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Corsair with its rear seat folded (65.2 vs. 57.6 cubic feet).

The Bronco Sport’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the liftgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Corsair’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

Ergonomics

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Bronco Sport’s headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the Corsair’s headlights are rated “Acceptable” to “Poor.”

The Bronco Sport Outer Banks/Badlands/First Edition has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Corsair doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

Economic Advantages

The Bronco Sport will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Bronco Sport will retain 59.2% to 61.37% of its original price after five years, while the Corsair only retains 47.08% to 47.36%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Ford Bronco Sport will be $9017 to $13277 less than for the Lincoln Corsair.

Recommendations

Consumer Reports® recommends the Ford Bronco Sport, based on reliability, safety and performance. The Lincoln Corsair isn't recommended.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Bronco Sport first among small SUVs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The Corsair isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Ford Bronco Sport outsold the Lincoln Corsair/MKC by over four to one during the 2022 model year.
