The SQ5’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The F-Pace doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Audi SQ5 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar F-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The SQ5 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the SQ5 and the F-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the SQ5 its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2022, a rating granted to only 101 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The F-Pace has not been tested, yet.

The SQ5’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the F-Pace’s (12 vs. 6 years).

There are over 60 percent more Audi dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the SQ5’s warranty.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the SQ5 has a standard 150-amp alternator. The F-Pace’s 130-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar With 1 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Audi higher than Jaguar.

The SQ5’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 103 more horsepower (349 vs. 246) and 100 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 269) than the F-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The SQ5’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 14 more horsepower (349 vs. 335) and 15 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 354) than the F-Pace P340’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Motor Trend the Audi SQ5 is faster than the F-Pace R-Dynamic S 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid:

On the EPA test cycle the SQ5 gets better fuel mileage than the F-Pace SVR (19 city/24 hwy vs. 15 city/22 hwy).

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Audi SQ5 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The F-Pace requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The SQ5’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The F-Pace doesn’t offer launch control.

The SQ5 stops shorter than the F-Pace:

The SQ5’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Pace’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the SQ5 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the F-Pace.

The SQ5 has a standard automatic load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The SQ5 Prestige handles at .93 G’s, while the F-Pace pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The SQ5 Prestige executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.1 seconds quicker than the F-Pace (25.7 seconds @ .73 average G’s vs. 26.8 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

The SQ5 is 7 inches narrower than the F-Pace, making the SQ5 easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The design of the Audi SQ5 amounts to more than styling. The SQ5 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .33 Cd. That is lower than the F-Pace (.36) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the SQ5 get better fuel mileage.

The SQ5 has .6 inches more front legroom, .8 inches more rear headroom, .8 inches more rear legroom and .7 inches more rear shoulder room than the F-Pace.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Audi service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks Audi 8th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 7% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 10th.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional in the F-Pace (except Base), the SQ5 offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle and climate settings and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The SQ5’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The F-Pace’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The SQ5 has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The F-Pace doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the SQ5 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. Heated windshield washer nozzles cost extra on the F-Pace.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the SQ5 has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the SQ5 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Insurance will cost less for the SQ5 owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the SQ5 will cost $390 less than the F-Pace over a five-year period.

The SQ5 will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the SQ5 will retain 50.53% to 50.54% of its original price after five years, while the F-Pace only retains 45% to 47.08%.

The Audi Q5/SQ5 outsold the Jaguar F-Pace by over 8 to one during the 2022 model year.
