The Highlander has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The QX60 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the Highlander and the QX60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

There are over 6 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Infiniti dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Highlander’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Highlander’s reliability 41 points higher than the QX60.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are better in initial quality than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota above average in initial quality. With 32 more problems per 100 vehicles, Infiniti is rated below average.

Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota above average in long-term dependability. With 34 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Infiniti is rated below average.

The Highlander’s 2.4 turbo 4-cylinder produces 40 lbs.-ft. more torque (310 vs. 270) than the QX60’s 3.5 DOHC V6.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Toyota Highlander uses regular unleaded gasoline. The QX60 requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

For better maneuverability, the Highlander’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the QX60’s (37.4 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Highlander has a 1.3 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the QX60 (8 vs. 6.7 inches), allowing the Highlander to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Toyota Highlander may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 250 pounds less than the Infiniti QX60.

The Highlander is 3.3 inches shorter than the QX60, making the Highlander easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Highlander has standard seating for 8 passengers; the QX60 can only carry 7.

The Highlander has .4 inches more front headroom, 1.9 inches more rear headroom, 1 inch more rear legroom, .3 inches more rear hip room, .4 inches more third row headroom and .4 inches more third row hip room than the QX60.

The Highlander’s cargo area provides more volume than the QX60.

The Highlander’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the QX60’s (5000 vs. 3500 pounds).

If the windows are left open on the Highlander the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (This window function must be activated by your Toyota service department.) The driver of the QX60 can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Highlander has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The QX60 doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

Consumer Reports® recommends the Toyota Highlander, based on reliability, safety and performance. The Infiniti QX60 isn't recommended.
