Compare the2023 Genesis GV60VS 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the GV60 are reminded to check the back seat when a sensor determines the back seat is occupied. The Q4 e-tron doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Genesis GV60 has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Q4 e-tron doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The GV60 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Q4 e-tron doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The GV60 has standard Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Q4 e-tron doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GV60 has standard Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist-Reverse that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Q4 e-tron doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the GV60. But it costs extra on the Q4 e-tron.

The GV60’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Q4 e-tron doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the GV60 and the Q4 e-tron have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The GV60 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Q4 e-tron’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV60 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Audi covers the Q4 e-tron. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Q4 e-tron ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the GV60 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Q4 e-tron.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 83 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is ranked 31st, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 77 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is ranked 25th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Audi vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Genesis 9 places higher in reliability than Audi.

The GV60’s standard electric motors produces 113 more horsepower (314 vs. 201) and 217 lbs.-ft. more torque (446 vs. 229) than the Q4 40 e-tron’s standard electric motor. The GV60’s electric motors produces 19 more horsepower (314 vs. 295) and 107 lbs.-ft. more torque (446 vs. 339) than the Q4 50 e-tron’s standard electric motors. The GV60 Performance’s optional electric motors produces 188 more horsepower (483 vs. 295) and 177 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 339) than the Q4 50 e-tron’s standard electric motors.

The GV60 with its standard motors can travel longer on a full charge than the Q4 50 e-tron (248 miles vs. 241 miles).

For better traction, the GV60 has larger tires than the Q4 e-tron (255/45R20 vs. 235/55R19).

The GV60 Advance’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Q4 e-tron’s standard 55 series front and 50 series rear tires. The GV60 Performance’s tires have a lower 40 series profile than the Q4 e-tron Quattro’s optional 50 series front and 45 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GV60 Advance has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Q4 e-tron. The GV60 Performance’s 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Q4 e-tron Quattro.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GV60’s wheelbase is 5.5 inches longer than on the Q4 e-tron (114.2 inches vs. 108.7 inches).

The GV60 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Q4 e-tron doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The GV60 has .5 inches more front headroom, 1.1 inches more front legroom, .8 inches more front shoulder room, .4 inches more rear legroom and .8 inches more rear shoulder room than the Q4 e-tron.

The GV60 has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Q4 e-tron with its rear seat folded (54.7 vs. 53.1 cubic feet).

The GV60 uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Q4 e-tron uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the GV60 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Q4 e-tron doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Both the GV60 and the Q4 e-tron have standard heated front seats. The GV60 Performance also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Q4 e-tron.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the GV60 keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Q4 e-tron doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The GV60 offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Q4 e-tron.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Genesis GV60 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Q4 e-tron.

The GV60’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Q4 e-tron’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.
