The QX80 Sensory’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The LX doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front and middle seat shoulder belts of the Infiniti QX80 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Lexus LX doesn’t offer height-adjustable middle seat belts.

The QX80 has standard Active Head Restraints (AHR), which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the AHR system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The LX doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the QX80 and the LX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and available all wheel drive.

The QX80 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The LX’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

The QX80’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the LX’s (7 vs. 6 years).

Infiniti pays for scheduled maintenance on the QX80 for 2 years and 26000 miles longer than Lexus pays for maintenance for the LX (3/36,000 vs. 1/10,000).

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the QX80 has a standard 780-amp battery. The LX’s 776-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Infiniti QX80 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The LX requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The QX80 has 4.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the LX (26 vs. 21.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the QX80 Luxe has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the LX Premium\Luxury.

The QX80 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The LX doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For superior ride and handling, the Infiniti QX80 has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Lexus LX has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The QX80 has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the QX80 flat and controlled during cornering. The LX base model’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The rear suspension of the QX80 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the LX, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the QX80’s wheelbase is 8.9 inches longer than on the LX (121.1 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For greater off-road capability the QX80 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the LX (9.2 vs. 8.9 inches), allowing the QX80 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The QX80’s cargo area is larger than the LX’s in almost every dimension:

The QX80’s available rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The LX Ultra Luxury doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

The QX80 has a standard third row seat which folds flat into the floor. This completely clears a very large cargo area quickly. The LX doesn’t offer seats that fold into the floor.

The QX80’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the LX’s (8500 vs. 8000 pounds).

The LX’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The QX80 Sensory’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The QX80 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the LX Premium/F Sport/Luxury/Ultra Luxury.

The QX80 is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The LX doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
