The Chrysler Pacifica has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Sienna doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the Pacifica and the Sienna have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Chrysler Pacifica is safer than the Toyota Sienna:

Instrumented handling tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and analysis of its dimensions indicate that the Pacifica is 1.1% to 3.1% less likely to roll over than the Sienna.

There are almost 2 times as many Chrysler dealers as there are Toyota dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Pacifica’s warranty.

The Pacifica Hybrid’s standard 3.6 DOHC V6 hybrid produces 15 more horsepower (260 vs. 245) than the Sienna’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid. The Pacifica’s standard 3.6 DOHC V6 produces 42 more horsepower (287 vs. 245) than the Sienna’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

The Pacifica Hybrid can travel with zero emissions for 32 miles. The Sienna can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

The Pacifica’s standard fuel tank has a gallon more fuel capacity than the Sienna (19 vs. 18 gallons).

The Pacifica has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Sienna doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better stopping power the Pacifica AWD’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Sienna:

For better traction, the Pacifica’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Sienna (245/50R20 vs. 235/50R20).

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Pacifica can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Sienna doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The Pacifica’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Sienna doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Pacifica’s wheelbase is 1.1 inches longer than on the Sienna (121.6 inches vs. 120.5 inches).

The front grille of the Pacifica uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Sienna doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Pacifica uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Sienna doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Pacifica has 2.6 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Sienna (165.1 vs. 162.5).

The Pacifica has .8 inches more front legroom, 1.4 inches more front shoulder room, .3 inches more rear shoulder room, 1.3 inches more third row headroom, .7 inches more third row hip room and 2.7 inches more third row shoulder room than the Sienna.

The Pacifica’s cargo area provides more volume than the Sienna.

The Sienna’s spare tire is stored in the cargo area, where it diminishes the useable cargo capacity and interferes with loading and unloading. The Pacifica’s spare is out of the way under the trunk floor.

The Pacifica has standard Stow ’n Go second and third row seats (except Hybrid for the second row), which fold flat into the floor. This completely clears a very large cargo area quickly. The Sienna only has a third row Split & Stow seat which folds into the floor. The Sienna’s second row seat doesn’t fold into the floor and eats up cargo room.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers or raises the Pacifica Limited/Pinnacle’s third row seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The Sienna doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The Pacifica’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Sienna’s (3600 vs. 3500 pounds).

The Pacifica has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Sienna doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Pacifica’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Sienna does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Pacifica’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Sienna’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Pacifica has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the Sienna Platinum.

The Pacifica’s optional ParkSense Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Sienna doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Motor Trend performed a comparison test in its August 2021 issue and they ranked the Chrysler Pacifica Limited AWD higher than the Toyota Sienna Platinum AWD.

The Pacifica was chosen as one of Car and Driver’s “Top Five/10Best Trucks” for 3 of the last 6 years. The Sienna has never been a Car and Driver “Top Five/10Best Truck” pick.
