The XT6 Premium Luxury/Sport’s optional pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Pacifica doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the XT6 Premium Luxury/Sport helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Pacifica doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the XT6 and the Pacifica have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The XT6 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Pacifica’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the XT6 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Chrysler covers the Pacifica. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Pacifica ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The XT6’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Pacifica’s (6 vs. 5 years).

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the XT6 has a standard 220-amp alternator. The Pacifica’s standard 180-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the XT6’s reliability 19 points higher than the Pacifica.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the XT6 first among upper midsize premium suvs in their 2022 Initial Quality Study. The Pacifica isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are better in initial quality than Chrysler vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in initial quality. With 102 more problems per 100 vehicles, Chrysler is rated below average.

Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than Chrysler vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac above average in long-term dependability. With 24 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Chrysler is rated below average.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the XT6’s fuel efficiency. The Pacifica doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Both the XT6 and the Pacifica have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. All XT6s have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. The Pacifica Hybrid doesn’t offer a way to disable start/stop.

The XT6 FWD’s standard fuel tank has 2.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Pacifica Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (19 vs. 16.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The XT6 AWD’s standard fuel tank has 3 gallons more fuel capacity than the Pacifica’s standard fuel tank (22 vs. 19 gallons).

For better traction, the XT6 Premium Luxury/Sport’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Pacifica (265/45R21 vs. 245/50R20).

The XT6 Premium Luxury/Sport’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Pacifica’s optional 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the XT6 has standard 18-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the Pacifica. The XT6 Premium Luxury/Sport’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Pacifica.

The Cadillac XT6’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Chrysler Pacifica only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The XT6 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Pacifica doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The XT6 has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the XT6 flat and controlled during cornering. The Pacifica 4x2 suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The XT6 offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Pacifica’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

Maximum trailer towing in the Chrysler Pacifica is limited to 3600 pounds. The XT6 offers up to a 4000 lbs. towing capacity.

While the Pacifica Hybrid is not recommended to tow, any XT6 can tow a minimum of 1000 pounds.

A Trailer Sway Control is standard on the XT6, using the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the Pacifica and isn’t available on the PacificaHybrid/Touring.

The XT6 uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Pacifica uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Cadillac service is better than Chrysler. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac second in service department satisfaction. With a 72% lower rating, Chrysler is ranked 31st.

The XT6 Premium Luxury/Sport offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Pacifica doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The XT6’s front and rear power windows all open fully with one touch of the switches and its front windows also automatically close, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Pacifica’s standard rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open them fully. Only its driver’s window closes automatically.

On a hot day the XT6’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Pacifica can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the XT6 has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Pacifica doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury/Sport has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The Pacifica doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The XT6 Premium Luxury/Sport’s optional Automatic Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting and stopping automatically, with the driver only responsible for switching from reverse to drive. The Pacifica’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the XT6 is less expensive to operate than the Pacifica because typical repairs cost less on the XT6 than the Pacifica, including $16 less for a muffler, $76 less for front brake pads, $47 less for a starter, $126 less for a fuel pump and $142 less for front struts.
