Both the Venue and the Encore GX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

Hyundai’s powertrain warranty covers the Venue 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Buick covers the Encore GX. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Encore GX ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Venue’s corrosion warranty is 1 year and unlimited miles longer than the Encore GX’s (7/unlimited vs. 6/100,000).

Hyundai pays for scheduled maintenance on the Venue for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Hyundai will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Buick doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Encore GX.

For better maneuverability, the Venue’s turning circle is 3.6 feet tighter than the Encore GX’s (33.2 feet vs. 36.8 feet).

The Hyundai Venue may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 550 pounds less than the Buick Encore GX.

The Venue is 1 foot shorter than the Encore GX, making the Venue easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Venue has .4 inches more front legroom, .2 inches more front hip room, .5 inches more rear headroom and .1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Encore GX.

The front step up height for the Venue is 1.5 inches lower than the Encore GX (16” vs. 17.5”). The Venue’s rear step up height is 1 inches lower than the Encore GX’s (17” vs. 18”).

The Venue has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The Encore GX doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

In addition to a parabolic reflector, optical-grade lenses in the Venue’s standard projector headlights precisely focus the beam, providing more even illumination of the road for better visibility and a sharp cut-off that prevents blinding oncoming drivers. The sharp cutoff allows the use of a stronger light. The Encore GX’s standard uses a simple reflector to direct its standard headlights.

Insurance will cost less for the Venue owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Venue will cost $200 less than the Encore GX over a five-year period.

The Venue will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Venue will retain 49.25% to 49.72% of its original price after five years, while the Encore GX only retains 45.57% to 45.58%.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Hyundai Venue will be $5997 to $8859 less than for the Buick Encore GX.
