Compare the2023 Genesis Electrified G80VS 2022 Kia EV6

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Genesis Electrified G80 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Kia EV6 doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The Electrified G80 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The EV6 doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The Electrified G80 has standard Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The EV6 doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Electrified G80. But it costs extra on the EV6.

Both the Electrified G80 and the EV6 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Genesis Electrified G80 weighs 499 to 1054 pounds more than the Kia EV6. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Electrified G80’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the EV6’s (7/unlimited vs. 5/100,000).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the Electrified G80 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Kia doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the EV6.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Kia vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Genesis 10 places higher in reliability than Kia.

The Electrified G80’s electric motors produces 198 more horsepower (365 vs. 167) and 258 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 258) than the EV6 Light’s standard electric motor. The Electrified G80’s electric motors produces 140 more horsepower (365 vs. 225) and 258 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 258) than the EV6 Wind/GT-Line’s standard electric motor. The Electrified G80’s electric motors produces 45 more horsepower (365 vs. 320) and 70 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 446) than the EV6’s optional electric motors.

For better stopping power the Electrified G80’s brake rotors are larger than those on the EV6:

The Electrified G80’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the EV6 are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the Electrified G80 has larger tires than the EV6 (F:245/45R19 & R:275/40R19 vs. 235/45R20).

The Electrified G80’s 245/45R19 front and 275/40R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the EV6’s standard 55 series tires. The Electrified G80’s tires are lower profile than the EV6 GT-Line e-AWD’s 45 series tires.

The Electrified G80 has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The EV6’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Electrified G80’s wheelbase is 4.3 inches longer than on the EV6 (118.5 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

The Electrified G80 handles at .90 G’s, while the EV6 Wind e-AWD pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Electrified G80 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The EV6 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Electrified G80 has 1.3 inches more front headroom, .5 inches more front shoulder room and 1.5 inches more rear shoulder room than the EV6.

With its sedan body style and remote trunk release lockout, the Electrified G80 offers cargo security. The EV6’s sport utility bodystyle defeats cargo security.

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Electrified G80. The EV6 doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Electrified G80’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The EV6’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

A power rear sunshade and manual rear side window sunshades are standard in the Electrified G80 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The EV6 doesn’t offer a rear or rear side window sunshades.

The Electrified G80’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The EV6 has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Electrified G80 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the EV6.

The Electrified G80 has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the EV6.
