Safety

The e-tron GT’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Electrified G80 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Audi e-tron GT has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Electrified G80 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The e-tron GT has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Electrified G80 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the e-tron GT and the Electrified G80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The e-tron GT’s corrosion warranty is 5 years longer than the Electrified G80’s (12 vs. 7 years).

Engine

The e-tron GT’s standard electric motors produces 157 more horsepower (522 vs. 365) than the Electrified G80’s electric motors. The RS e-tron GT’s standard electric motors produces 272 more horsepower (637 vs. 365) and 96 lbs.-ft. more torque (612 vs. 516) than the Electrified G80’s electric motors.

As tested in Car and Driver the Audi e-tron GT is faster than the Genesis Electrified G80:

Fuel Economy and Range

Regenerative brakes improve the e-tron GT’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Electrified G80 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the RS e-tron GT’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Electrified G80:

The e-tron GT RS offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Electrified G80 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The e-tron GT stops much shorter than the Electrified G80:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the e-tron GT Prestige/RS’ optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Electrified G80 (F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21 vs. F:245/45R19 & R:275/40R19).

The e-tron GT Prestige/RS’ optional 265/35R21 front and 305/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Electrified G80’s 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the e-tron GT has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 19-inch wheels are available on the Electrified G80. The e-tron GT Prestige/RS offers optional 21-inch wheels.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the e-tron GT uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Electrified G80, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The e-tron GT has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The e-tron GT’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Electrified G80 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the e-tron GT is 2.8 inches wider in the front and 1.2 inches wider in the rear than on the Electrified G80.

The RS e-tron GT handles at .93 G’s, while the Electrified G80 pulls only .90 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

Chassis

The design of the Audi e-tron GT amounts to more than styling. The e-tron GT has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .24 Cd. That is lower than the Electrified G80 (.26) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the e-tron GT get better fuel mileage.

Cargo Capacity

The e-tron GT’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Electrified G80 doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Audi service is better than Genesis. J.D. Power ranks Audi 8th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 29% lower rating, Genesis is ranked 23rd.

Ergonomics

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the e-tron GT offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Electrified G80 doesn’t offer cornering lights.
