The Vantage’s blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The 720S doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

Both the Vantage and the 720S have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available rearview cameras.

The Aston Martin Vantage weighs 468 to 708 pounds more than the McLaren 720S. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

On the EPA test cycle the Vantage V8 gets better fuel mileage than the 720S (18 city/24 hwy vs. 15 city/22 hwy).

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Aston Martin Vantage, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the 720S.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Vantage has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 19-inch front wheels are available on the 720S. The Vantage offers optional 21-inch wheels.

The Vantage has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the 720S; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Vantage’s wheelbase is 1.4 inches longer than on the 720S (106.5 inches vs. 105.1 inches).

The Vantage’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the 720S’ (42% to 58%). This gives the Vantage more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the Vantage’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the 720S’ (38.7 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The Vantage is 3.1 inches shorter than the 720S, making the Vantage easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Vantage’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the 720S.

If the windows are left open on the Vantage the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the 720S can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Vantage to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The 720S doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Vantage has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The 720S doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Vantage’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The 720S’ power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Vantage keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The 720S doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the Vantage’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The 720S doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the Vantage has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The 720S doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

The Vantage’s Auto Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The 720S doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
