The Aston Martin DBX has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Range Rover doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The DBX has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Range Rover’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the DBX has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the Range Rover.

Both the DBX and the Range Rover have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems and rearview cameras.

The DBX comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Range Rover’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The DBX’s corrosion warranty is 4 years longer than the Range Rover’s (10 vs. 6 years).

The DBX’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 187 more horsepower (542 vs. 355) and 151 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 365) than the Range Rover P360’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The DBX’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 147 more horsepower (542 vs. 395) and 111 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 405) than the Range Rover P400’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The DBX’s 4.0 turbo V8 produces 24 more horsepower (542 vs. 518) and 55 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 461) than the Range Rover P525’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the DBX’s fuel efficiency. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The DBX has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Aston Martin DBX, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Range Rover.

For better traction, the DBX has larger tires than the Range Rover (F:285/40R22 & R:325/35R22 vs. 235/65R19). The DBX’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Range Rover (F:285/40R22 & R:325/35R22 vs. 275/45R21).

The DBX’s standard 285/40R22 front and 325/35R22 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Range Rover’s standard 65 series tires. The DBX’s optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Range Rover’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the DBX has standard 22-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Range Rover. The DBX’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the Range Rover.

The DBX offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Land Rover doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Range Rover.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the DBX’s wheelbase is 5.5 inches longer than on the Range Rover (120.5 inches vs. 115 inches).

The DBX handles at .92 G’s, while the Range Rover pulls only .75 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The DBX executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3.3 seconds quicker than the Range Rover HSE (24.4 seconds @ .79 average G’s vs. 27.7 seconds @ .67 average G’s).

The DBX is 7.4 inches shorter in height than the Range Rover, making the DBX much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The DBX’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The Range Rover’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

If the windows are left open on the DBX the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Range Rover can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The DBX’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Range Rover’s power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Aston Martin DBX offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) for the front seat. The Range Rover doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
