For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Infiniti Q50 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Cadillac CT4-V doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Q50 and the CT4-V have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available all wheel drive.

The Q50 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The CT4-V’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

The Q50’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the CT4-V’s (7 vs. 6 years).

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Q50’s reliability 60 points higher than the CT4-V.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 10 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The Q50 Red Sport 400’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 75 more horsepower (400 vs. 325) than the CT4-V’s standard 2.7 turbo 4-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the Q50 gets better mileage than the CT4-V:

The Q50 has 3 gallons more fuel capacity than the CT4-V (20 vs. 17 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Q50 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. Run-flat tires aren’t available on some tire packages on the CT4-V.

The Q50 Sport’s optional drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The CT4-V doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Q50’s wheelbase is 2.9 inches longer than on the CT4-V (112.2 inches vs. 109.3 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Q50’s turning circle is .4 feet tighter than the CT4-V’s (36.7 feet vs. 37.1 feet). The Q50 AWD’s turning circle is 1.4 feet tighter than the CT4-V Blackwing’s (37.4 feet vs. 38.8 feet).

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Q50 a Mid-size car, while the CT4-V is rated a Compact.

The Q50 has 10 cubic feet more passenger volume than the CT4-V (100 vs. 90).

The Q50 has 1.2 inches more front headroom, 2.1 inches more front legroom, .2 inches more front hip room, 1.5 inches more front shoulder room, .3 inches more rear headroom, 1.7 inches more rear legroom and 2.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the CT4-V.

The Q50 has a much larger trunk than the CT4-V (13.5 vs. 10.7 cubic feet).

With its sedan body style, valet key, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the Q50 offers cargo security. The CT4-V’s non-lockable folding seat defeats cargo security.

The Q50’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The CT4-V’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

If the windows are left open on the Q50 the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the CT4-V can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Q50 has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The CT4-V doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

The CT4-V’s optional cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Q50 Red Sport 400’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

The Q50 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the CT4-V.
