The X7 has standard Post-Crash Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The X7 xDrive40i’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid produces 80 more horsepower (375 vs. 295) and 128 lbs.-ft. more torque (398 vs. 270) than the QX60’s 3.5 DOHC V6. The X7 M60i’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid produces 228 more horsepower (523 vs. 295) and 283 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 270) than the QX60’s 3.5 DOHC V6.

On the EPA test cycle the X7 xDrive40i gets better fuel mileage than the QX60 AWD (21 city/25 hwy vs. 20 city/25 hwy).

Regenerative brakes improve the X7’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The QX60 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The X7’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The QX60 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the X7 has larger standard tires than the QX60 (F:275/40R22 & R:315/35R22 vs. 255/50R20). The X7’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the QX60 (285/45R21 vs. 255/50R20).

The X7’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the QX60’s standard 60 series tires. The X7’s optional 275/35R23 front and 315/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the QX60 Luxe/Sensory/Autograph’s 50 series tires.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the X7 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The QX60 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The X7 offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The QX60 doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the X7 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the QX60, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The X7 has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The QX60’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the X7’s wheelbase is 8 inches longer than on the QX60 (122.2 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

The X7’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (49.4% to 50.6%) than the QX60’s (55.1% to 44.9%). This gives the X7 more stable handling and braking.

For greater off-road capability the X7 has a 2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the QX60 (8.7 vs. 6.7 inches), allowing the X7 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The front grille of the X7 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The QX60 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The X7 has 1.1 inches more front headroom, 2.4 inches more rear headroom, .9 inches more third row headroom and 5.3 inches more third row legroom than the QX60.

Pressing a button automatically lowers or raises the X7’s second and third row seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The QX60 doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

The X7’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The QX60’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

Maximum trailer towing in the QX60 is limited to 6000 pounds. The X7 offers up to a 7500 lbs. towing capacity.

The engine in the X7 is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the QX60. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because there are no rear spark plugs and the accessory belts are in front.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the X7 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The QX60 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The X7 has standard heated front and optional heated second and third row seats, which keep the driver and passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Infiniti doesn’t offer heated seats in the third row of the QX60.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the BMW X7 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the QX60 Sensory/Autograph offers wireless charging.

The X7’s Parking Assistant Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The QX60 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
