The Escalade ESV Premium/Platinum/Sport’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Wagoneer doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Escalade ESV has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Wagoneer doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Both the Escalade ESV and the Wagoneer have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, night vision systems, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The Escalade ESV comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Wagoneer’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Escalade ESV 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jeep covers the Wagoneer. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Wagoneer ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Escalade ESV’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Wagoneer’s (6 vs. 5 years).

The Escalade ESV has a standard “limp home system” to keep drivers from being stranded if most or all of the engine’s coolant is lost. The engine will run on only half of its cylinders at a time, reduce its power and light a warning lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get to a service station for repairs. The Wagoneer doesn’t offer a lost coolant limp home mode, so a coolant leak could strand you or seriously damage the truck’s engine.

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the Escalade ESV has a standard 800-amp battery (900 Diesel). The Wagoneer’s 730-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Escalade ESV first among large premium SUVs in their 2022 Initial Quality Study. The Wagoneer isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Escalade ESV’s 6.2 V8 produces 28 more horsepower (420 vs. 392) and 56 lbs.-ft. more torque (460 vs. 404) than the Wagoneer’s standard 5.7 V8 hybrid. The Escalade ESV’s 6.2 V8 produces 5 lbs.-ft. more torque (460 vs. 455) than the Grand Wagoneer’s standard 6.4 V8.

The Escalade ESV’s 3.0 turbo diesel produces 56 lbs.-ft. more torque (460 vs. 404) than the Wagoneer’s standard 5.7 V8 hybrid. The Escalade ESV’s 3.0 turbo diesel produces 5 lbs.-ft. more torque (460 vs. 455) than the Grand Wagoneer’s standard 6.4 V8.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Cadillac Escalade ESV uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The Wagoneer requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The Escalade ESV has 1.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Wagoneer (28.3 vs. 26.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Cadillac Escalade ESV higher (3 to 6 out of 10) than the Jeep Wagoneer (1 to 5). This means the Escalade ESV produces up to 45.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Wagoneer every 15,000 miles.

A 10-speed automatic is available on the Cadillac Escalade ESV, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Wagoneer.

The Escalade ESV’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Wagoneer Off-Road’s 65 series tires.

The Escalade ESV’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Wagoneer’s standard power windows’ rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

If the windows are left open on the Escalade ESV the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Wagoneer can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Wagoneer’s optional cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Escalade ESV Premium/Platinum/Sport’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.
