For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Subaru Solterra are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar I-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Solterra are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Subaru Solterra has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Solterra has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Solterra has a standard Parking Support Brake that use rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Solterra’s standard Downhill Assist Control allows you to creep down safely. The I-Pace doesn’t offer Downhill Assist Control.

Both the Solterra and the I-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

There are over 3 times as many Subaru dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Solterra’s warranty.

The Solterra Premium can travel longer on a full charge than the I-Pace (228 miles vs. 222 miles).

For better maneuverability, the Solterra’s turning circle is 3.8 feet tighter than the I-Pace’s (36.7 feet vs. 40.5 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Solterra has a greater minimum ground clearance than the I-Pace (8.3 vs. 7.8 inches), allowing the Solterra to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Subaru Solterra may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 400 pounds less than the Jaguar I-Pace.

The Solterra has 1.2 inches more front legroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room, .3 inches more rear legroom and 1.4 inches more rear shoulder room than the I-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Solterra’s rear seats recline. The I-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Solterra has a much larger cargo volume than the I-Pace with its rear seat up (29 vs. 25.3 cubic feet).
