Compare the2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse CrossVS 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Eclipse Cross. But it costs extra on the Rogue Sport.

Both the Eclipse Cross and the Rogue Sport have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is safer than the Nissan Rogue Sport:

The Eclipse Cross comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Rogue Sport’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Mitsubishi’s powertrain warranty covers the Eclipse Cross 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Nissan covers the Rogue Sport. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Rogue Sport ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Eclipse Cross’ corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Rogue Sport’s (7 vs. 5 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mitsubishi vehicles are more reliable than Nissan vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mitsubishi above average in long-term dependability. With 9 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Nissan is rated below average.

The Eclipse Cross’ 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder produces 11 more horsepower (152 vs. 141) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (184 vs. 147) than the Rogue Sport’s 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder.

As tested in Consumer Reports the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is faster than the Nissan Rogue Sport:

The Eclipse Cross has 1.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the Rogue Sport (15.8 vs. 14.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Eclipse Cross stops shorter than the Rogue Sport:

The Eclipse Cross SEL executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Rogue Sport SL 4x4 (29 seconds @ .56 average G’s vs. 29.6 seconds @ .53 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Eclipse Cross AWD’s turning circle is 2.1 feet tighter than the Rogue Sport’s (34.8 feet vs. 36.9 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Eclipse Cross has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Rogue Sport (8.5 vs. 7.4 inches), allowing the Eclipse Cross to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Eclipse Cross has 3.7 inches more rear legroom and 5.1 inches more rear hip room than the Rogue Sport.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Eclipse Cross’ rear seats recline. The Rogue Sport’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Eclipse Cross has a larger cargo volume than the Rogue Sport with its rear seat up (23.4 vs. 22.9 cubic feet).

The Eclipse Cross has a 1500 lbs. towing capacity. The Rogue Sport has no towing capacity.

The Eclipse Cross SEL offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, warning and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Rogue Sport doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Eclipse Cross SEL’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Rogue Sport’s passenger windows don’t open or close automatically.

The Eclipse Cross LE/SE/SEL’s standard wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield. The Rogue Sport’s intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

The Eclipse Cross’ standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Nissan only offers heated mirrors on the Rogue Sport SV/SL.

Both the Eclipse Cross and the Rogue Sport offer available heated front seats. The Eclipse Cross SEL also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Rogue Sport.
