The GV60 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Tonale doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV60 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Alfa Romeo covers the Tonale. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Tonale ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The GV60’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Tonale’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the GV60 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Alfa Romeo only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Tonale.

There are over 2 times as many Genesis dealers as there are Alfa Romeo dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GV60’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Alfa Romeo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 55 more problems per 100 vehicles, Alfa Romeo is ranked 27th, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Alfa Romeo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 90 more problems per 100 vehicles, Alfa Romeo is ranked 29th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Alfa Romeo vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Genesis 24 places higher in reliability than Alfa Romeo.

The GV60’s standard electric motors produces 58 more horsepower (314 vs. 256) and 151 lbs.-ft. more torque (446 vs. 295) than the Tonale’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The GV60’s electric motors produces 42 more horsepower (314 vs. 272) than the Tonale’s optional 1.3 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The GV60 Performance’s optional electric motors produces 211 more horsepower (483 vs. 272) than the Tonale’s optional 1.3 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the GV60’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Alfa Romeo only offers a regenerative brake system on the Tonale PHEV.

The GV60 Performance’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Tonale are solid, not vented.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GV60 Advance has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the Tonale. The GV60 Performance’s 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Tonale.

The GV60 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Tonale doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the GV60’s liftgate can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Tonale doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its cargo door, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The GV60 has a standard heads-up display that projects speed in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Tonale doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The GV60’s standard GPS navigation system has a real-time traffic update feature that plots alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service not available in all areas.) The Tonale’s available navigation system doesn’t offer real-time traffic updates.

The GV60’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Tonale doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
