The GV70’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The E-Pace doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Genesis GV70 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar E-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the GV70 are reminded to check the back seat when a sensor determines the back seat is occupied. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Genesis GV70 has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The E-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The GV70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The E-Pace doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GV70 Advanced/Sport has standard Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The E-Pace doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The GV70 has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the E-Pace’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the GV70 has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the E-Pace.

Both the GV70 and the E-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its standard headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the GV70 its highest rating: “Top Safety Pick Plus” for 2022, a rating granted to only 81 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The E-Pace has not been tested, yet.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV70 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the E-Pace. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the E-Pace ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The GV70’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the E-Pace’s (7 vs. 6 years).

There are over 61 percent more Genesis dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GV70’s warranty.

The engine in the GV70 is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the E-Pace. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

The GV70 has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

Consumer Reports rated the GV70’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the E-Pace’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GV70 has standard extendable sun visors. The E-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the GV70 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The E-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the GV70 Select/Advanced/Sport/3.5T keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The E-Pace doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The GV70 Sport Prestige/3.5T has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the E-Pace.

The GV70 Advanced/Sport/3.5T has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The GV70 Advanced/Sport Prestige’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The E-Pace doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the GV70 first among compact premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The E-Pace isn’t in the top three in its category.

Motor Trend selected the GV70 as their 2022 Sport Utility of the Year. The E-Pace has never been chosen.
