The Corvette’s optional blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The Huracán doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Corvette’s optional rear cross-path warning system uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Huracán doesn’t offer a cross-path warning system.

The Corvette has standard OnStar®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions, remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Huracán doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Corvette and the Huracán have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Warranty

There are almost 83 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Corvette’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Corvette first among compact premium sporty cars in their 2021 Initial Quality Study. The Huracán isn’t in the top three in its category.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Chevrolet Corvette higher (3 out of 10) than the Lamborghini Huracán (1). This means the Corvette produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Huracán every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Chevrolet Corvette, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Huracán.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Corvette Z06 CCB’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Huracán:

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The Corvette has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Huracán doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Corvette Z06’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Huracán (F:275/30R20 & R:345/25R21 vs. F:245/30R20 & R:305/30R20).

The Corvette’s standard 305/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Huracán’s standard 35 series tires. The Corvette Z06’s 345/25R21 rear tires have a lower 25 series profile than the Huracán AWD’s 30 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Corvette has standard 20-inch rear wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Huracán. The Corvette Z06’s 21-inch rear wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the Huracán AWD.

The Corvette has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Huracán doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Corvette can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Huracán doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Corvette’s wheelbase is 4.1 inches longer than on the Huracán (107.2 inches vs. 103.1 inches).

The Corvette Coupe handles at 1.03 G’s, while the Huracán Coupe AWD pulls only 1.00 G’s of cornering force in a Road and Track skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Corvette with Magnetic Ride Control’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the Huracán’s (36.4 feet vs. 37.7 feet).

Chassis

The Corvette’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The Huracán doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

The Corvette uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Huracán doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Corvette has 5 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Huracán (51 vs. 46).

Cargo Capacity

The Corvette Coupe has a much larger trunk than the Huracán Coupe (12.6 vs. 3.5 cubic feet).

Servicing Ease

An Oil Life Monitor is standard on the Corvette to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes, air filter replacement and transmission fluid replacement based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lamborghini doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Huracán.

Ergonomics

The Corvette has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Huracán doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

When two different drivers share the Corvette, the optional memory system makes it convenient for both. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver and front passenger’s seat positions, steering wheel position, suspension setting and outside mirror angle. The Huracán doesn’t offer a memory system.

The Corvette’s optional easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Huracán doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Corvette’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Huracán’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

On a hot day the Corvette has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The Huracán doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to enter the car, turn the ignition on and lower the top.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Corvette has standard extendable sun visors. The Huracán doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Corvette’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The Huracán’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.

The Corvette’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Huracán offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Corvette keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Huracán doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the Corvette’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Huracán doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the Corvette has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Huracán doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

Recommendations

Road and Track performed a comparison test in its December 2019 issue and they ranked the Chevrolet Corvette Coupe first. They ranked the Lamborghini Huracán Evo Coupe tenth.

The Corvette was chosen as one of Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 18 of the last 25 years. The Huracán has never been a Car and Driver “Top Ten” pick.

A group of representative automotive journalists from North America selected the Corvette as the 2020 North American Car of the Year. The Huracán has never been chosen.
