Compare the2022 Mitsubishi MirageVS 2022 Nissan Versa

The Mirage offers available Park Assist Sensors to help warn the driver about vehicles, pedestrians or other obstacles behind or in front of their vehicle. The Versa doesn’t offer a front parking aid.

Both the Mirage and the Versa have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, rearview cameras and available lane departure warning systems.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Mitsubishi Mirage is safer than the Nissan Versa:

The Mirage comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Versa’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Mitsubishi’s powertrain warranty covers the Mirage 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Nissan covers the Versa. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Versa ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Mirage’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Versa’s (7 vs. 5 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Mitsubishi vehicles are better in initial quality than Nissan vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mitsubishi third in initial quality, above the industry average. With 2 more problems per 100 vehicles, Nissan is ranked fifth.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mitsubishi vehicles are more reliable than Nissan vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mitsubishi above average in long-term dependability. With 9 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Nissan is rated below average.

On the EPA test cycle the Mirage G4 gets better mileage than the Versa:

For better maneuverability, the Mirage Hatchback’s turning circle is 4.6 feet tighter than the Versa’s (30.2 feet vs. 34.8 feet). The Mirage G4’s turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the Versa’s (31.5 feet vs. 34.8 feet).

The Mitsubishi Mirage may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 pounds less than the Nissan Versa.

The Mirage G4 is 7.5 inches shorter than the Versa, making the Mirage easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Mitsubishi Mirage amounts to more than styling. The Mirage has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .27 Cd. That is lower than the Versa (.288 to .319) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Mirage get better fuel mileage.

The Mirage G4 has .5 inches more rear headroom and 6.3 inches more rear legroom than the Versa.

The Mirage has a much larger trunk with its rear seat up than the Versa (17.1 vs. 14.7 cubic feet).

The Mirage’s driver’s power window opens or closes with one touch of the window control, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths. The Versa’s power windows’ switch has to be held the entire time to close it fully.

The Mirage G4 has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children. The Versa doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.

For greater rear passenger comfort, the Mirage has standard rear heat vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable. The Versa doesn’t offer rear vents.

The Mitsubishi Mirage comes in sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Nissan Versa isn’t available as a station wagon.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Mirage is less expensive to operate than the Versa because typical repairs cost much less on the Mirage than the Versa, including $11 less for front brake pads, $4 less for fuel injection and $393 less for a fuel pump.
