The Lamborghini Aventador has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The GT-R doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the Aventador and the GT-R have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available rear parking sensors.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Aventador has a standard 190-amp alternator. The GT-R’s 150-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

The Aventador SVJ’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 194 more horsepower (759 vs. 565) and 64 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 467) than the GT-R’s standard 3.8 turbo V6. The Aventador SVJ’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 159 more horsepower (759 vs. 600) and 50 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 481) than the GT-R NISMO’s standard 3.8 turbo V6. The Aventador Ultimae’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 169 more horsepower (769 vs. 600) and 50 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 481) than the GT-R NISMO’s standard 3.8 turbo V6.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Aventador’s fuel efficiency. The GT-R doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Aventador’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. The GT-R doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Aventador has 4.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the GT-R (23.8 vs. 19.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

A seven-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Lamborghini Aventador, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a six-speed automatic is available for the GT-R.

For better traction and acceleration, the Aventador has larger rear tires than the GT-R (355/25R21 vs. 285/35R20).

The Aventador’s 255/30R20 front and 355/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GT-R’s standard 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Aventador has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the GT-R.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Aventador is 4.9 inches wider in the front and 3.1 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the GT-R.

The Aventador handles at 1.05 G’s, while the GT-R Premium pulls only .98 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Aventador executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the GT-R Premium (23.1 seconds @ .92 average G’s vs. 23.6 seconds @ .79 average G’s).

The Lamborghini Aventador may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 500 pounds less than the Nissan GT-R.

The Aventador is 9.2 inches shorter in height than the GT-R, making the Aventador much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The Aventador’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch. The GT-R has a lever-type parking brake that has to be strenuously raised to engage properly. It has to be lifted up more and a button depressed to release it.

The Aventador’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The GT-R’s intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Aventador has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The GT-R doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Aventador’s power mirror controls are mounted on the door for easy access. The GT-R’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The Lamborghini Aventador comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Nissan GT-R isn’t available as a convertible.
