The Lamborghini Aventador has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 812 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Aventador has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The 812 doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the Aventador and the 812 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and available rear parking sensors.

Fuel Economy and Range

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Aventador’s fuel efficiency. The 812 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Drivetrain

All wheel drive, available in the Aventador, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Ferrari 812 is not available with all wheel drive.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the Aventador has larger rear tires than the 812 (355/25R21 vs. 315/35R20).

The Aventador’s 255/30R20 front and 355/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 812’s standard 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Aventador has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the 812.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Aventador is 1.9 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the 812.

The Aventador handles at 1.05 G’s, while the 812 Coupe pulls only 1.03 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

Ergonomics

The Aventador’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The 812’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.
