The Lamborghini Aventador has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The DBS doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The Aventador has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The DBS doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the Aventador and the DBS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available rear parking sensors.

The Aventador SVJ’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 44 more horsepower (759 vs. 715) than the DBS’ 5.2 turbo V12. The Aventador Ultimae’s standard 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 54 more horsepower (769 vs. 715) than the DBS’ 5.2 turbo V12.

The Aventador has 2.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the DBS (23.8 vs. 21.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Aventador offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The DBS doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

All wheel drive, available in the Aventador, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Aston Martin DBS is not available with all wheel drive.

The Aventador’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The DBS doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction and acceleration, the Aventador has larger rear tires than the DBS (355/25R21 vs. 305/30R21).

The Aventador’s 255/30R20 front and 355/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the DBS’ standard 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Aventador is 2.1 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the DBS.

The Aventador handles at 1.05 G’s, while the DBS Superleggera Coupe pulls only 1.02 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Aventador executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the DBS Superleggera Coupe (23.1 seconds @ .92 average G’s vs. 23.6 seconds @ .89 average G’s).

The Lamborghini Aventador may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 pounds less than the Aston Martin DBS.

The design of the Lamborghini Aventador amounts to more than styling. The Aventador has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .33 Cd. That is significantly lower than the DBS (.38). A more efficient exterior helps the Aventador go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the Aventador get better fuel mileage.

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Aventador. The DBS doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Aventador’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The DBS does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Aventador has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The DBS doesn’t offer headlight washers.
