The Silverado 1500 has standard head airbag curtains for front and rear seats which act as a forgiving barrier between the driver and outboard passenger's upper bodies and the window and pillars. Combined with high-strength steel door beams and lower side airbags this system increases head protection in broadside collisions. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn't offer side airbag protection for the head and are only available for the front seats.

Full-time four-wheel drive is optional on the Silverado 1500. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the Hummer EV Pickup.

For better load carrying, ride, handling and brake cooling the Silverado 1500 offers optional 22-inch wheels. The Hummer EV Pickup’s largest wheels are only 18-inches.

The Silverado 1500 has a standard full size spare so a flat doesn’t interrupt your work or a trip. A full size spare costs extra on the Hummer EV Pickup. Without the option you must depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Silverado 1500 Short Box Crew Cab’s wheelbase is 11.8 inches longer than on the Hummer EV Pickup (147.4 inches vs. 135.6 inches). The Silverado 1500 Standard Box Crew Cab’s wheelbase is 21.4 inches longer than on the Hummer EV Pickup (157 inches vs. 135.6 inches).

The Silverado 1500 is 5.6 inches narrower than the Hummer EV Pickup, making the Silverado 1500 easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The Silverado 1500 Standard Box Double Cab has standard seating for 6 passengers; the Hummer EV Pickup can only carry 5.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s spare tire is stored in the cargo area, where it diminishes the useable cargo capacity and interferes with loading and unloading. The Silverado 1500’s spare is out of the way underneath.

The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s power windows’ switch has to be held the entire time to close it fully. The Silverado 1500 ZR2/LTZ/High Country’s front power windows both open or close with one touch of the switches.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 comes in regular cab, extended cab and crew cab bodystyles; the GMC Hummer EV Pickup isn’t available as a regular cab or extended cab.

The Silverado 1500 is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
