The Toyota Tundra has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the Tundra for 2 years and 25000 miles. Toyota will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. GMC only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Hummer EV Pickup.

J.D. Power ranks Toyota above average in long-term dependability. With 34 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, GMC is rated lower.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Toyota second in overall reliability. GMC is ranked 16th.

The Tundra stops shorter than the Hummer EV Pickup:

The Tundra Capstone’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Hummer EV Pickup’s 70 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Tundra Capstone has standard 22-inch wheels. The Hummer EV Pickup’s largest wheels are only 18-inches.

The Tundra has a standard full size spare so a flat doesn’t interrupt your work or a trip. A full size spare costs extra on the Hummer EV Pickup. Without the option you must depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Tundra 5.5-foot bed Crew Cab Pickup’s wheelbase is 10.1 inches longer than on the Hummer EV Pickup (145.7 inches vs. 135.6 inches). The Tundra 6.5-foot bed Crew Cab Pickup’s wheelbase is 22.1 inches longer than on the Hummer EV Pickup (157.7 inches vs. 135.6 inches).
